REGISTER NOW FOR SPECIAL EVENT: WELLESLEY AUTHOR TALK & LUNCH AT THE NEWLY-RENOVATED PELICAN BAY CLUB
January 27, 2018 at 12 noon; RSVP deadline is January 20
Katharine Lee Bates ’80 will forever be known as the author of “America the Beautiful.” Her life, however, encompassed far more than a single work, even one as defining as the poem that some still feel should be our national anthem.
Wellesley alumna Melinda Ponder ’66 has written a well-researched biography of Katharine Lee Bates, Wellesley alumna, Wellesley professor, poet, and author. Ponder will be discussing – and signing – her new (July 2017) book, Katharine Lee Bates: From Sea to Shining Sea, at a luncheon that will begin at noon on January 27, 2018 at the newly-renovated Pelican Bay Club, 707 Gulf Park Drive in Naples.
Several alums are already fascinated to discover more about our alma mater’s founding, its early years, and “Katie of ’80,” who set a high bar for women well over a century ago. The book is available in hard cover, paperback, and e-book. It will be available for sale at the luncheon and can also be purchased at Amazon.com.
To reserve your place at the luncheon, mail a check (payable to Naples Wellesley Club) for $35 to Sally Sammis, Treasurer, 4451 Gulf Shore Blvd N. #504, Naples, FL 34103 or register online by clicking on the button below. Please note that the deadline for registration is January 20, 2018. Send Jane Lahey an email (email@example.com) if you have any special dietary needs (e.g. vegetarian, vegan).
